wisdom teeth

I finally got my wisdom teeth out after yeeears of putting it off!

What happened was a few years ago I was thinking about going into the dental field so I started shadowing an oral surgeon to help build my resume. I got to watch a wisdom teeth procedure and was mortified by what I saw. Seriously, the surgeon was so rough on his patient.  He pushed and pulled and shoved and hacked away at their teeth while blood and pieces of teeth/bone were spraying out of their mouth. It was intense. That definitely made me want to avoid the whole wisdom tooth ordeal for awhile.

So, a few months ago it hits me that neither Zack nor I have seen a dentist in 3 years. I make an appointment, we get our teeth checked, and we have zero cavities! Booyah. Then they tell me that my wisdom teeth are impacted. Shoot. So I cowboy up and make an appointment with the best oral surgeon I can find in SB.

The morning I go into get my wisdom teeth out I start feeling really anxious. The dental assistant knew how nervous I was feeling so she hooked me up to some laughing gas and turned it up full blast, haha! It was so strong I thought I was going to throw up at first, then it made me feel like I was floating and all I wanted to do was laugh. Zack and the nurse started asking me questions but I could barely speak. I was flying hiiigh hahah. Then the surgeon comes in, starts cracking jokes, and hooks me up to the IV. We keep talking for a couple of minutes and I'm not feeling tired at all. So I ask, "You're knocking me out for this right??" he laughs and says, "Oh, you wanted to be asleep for this?" just messing me. As soon as I start saying "YES" I pass out and the next thing I know is I'm waking up. When I woke up I was fully coherent. I was scared I was going to act like a crazy person rambling bizarre things, but I was fully me. I'm not sure why people act so whack after getting their teeth out. I couldn't talk because my mouth was full of gauz, so whenever I wanted to say something I would just write it out on my phone and show it to Zack. Even though I could think perfectly normal, I couldn't walk straight... or really walk at all haha. It was great.

The procedure wasn't bad at all, the recovery.. was a nightmare. As soon as we got home I took the pain meds, as directed, and they instantly made me start throwing up. I decided just to sleep awhile and try again later. I had to look in the mirror while I ate that entire first day because if I didn't it would fall out of my mouth. I iced my face nonstop which helped it not to swell too crazily. It took a little over a week of relaxing and eating liquids before I felt normal again. Ahhh, I'm so glad it's over.

Go ahead and have a good laugh.

Thanksgiving break

Thanksgiving has got to be one of the best holidays. You get to eat  amazing food, reflect on all of your blessings, spend time with family, and you don't have to buy gifts for anyone. I love Christmas with all my heart, but it is freaking stressful. Thanksgiving on the other hand, easy peasy (unless your cooking). This year Zack and I were lucky enough to have 4 Thanksgiving dinners. CRAZY right? It was a fun week! We had a dinner in California, our amazing neighbors in Utah invited us over for a dinner, the Barber side of our family had dinner on Thanksgiving, and then we also had a Frandsen family Thanksgiving dinner the following day. I had enough pumpkin pie to last me a lifetime. So, here are some of the highlights from Thanksgiving break. Sadly I only got pictures of 2 of the 4 dinners.

normal pictures are so boring
I took some 1 year anniversary photos for the Hodsons up the canyon.
Running with one of my favorite babes.
Whiskers, our lovely kitty cat.
Opening day at Canyons with my favorite gals!
I seriously love this chick! Jill and I will probably still be doing this as old ladies.
Shopping in Park City.
I met this girl in SB, and then she moved to Park City with her man. Small world. I'm stoked I still get to hangout with her when we visit home.
Lunch at Davanzas in PC. FAVORITE! mmmm mmm
Dinner and chill time with my mom and Cyrus. This was the last time I got to see them before 2 months of being apart due to our traveling schedules not lining up. I've really missed them. I finally get to see them next week though!! Happy day!
Frandsen family Thanksgiving dinner.
haha we look really strange for some reason..
I'm obsessed with these crazy kids! Being an aunt is the best.

It was an amazing week! I'm so grateful to be living a life full of wonderful people. My family and friends are the best I could ever ask for and I don't know what I'd do without them! I'm grateful to be married to a man who I'm totally crazy about, who is the best friend a girl could ask for. I'm grateful that we are able to travel back and forth between California and Utah as much as we do. I'm grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The gospel of our church has blessed my life in so many ways. I could seriously expand on these blessings for awhile.. but I think I should save that for it's own post. I'm grateful for so many other things in my life too! My health, education, opportunities, ECT....... Once again, I could go on and on about everything I'm grateful for but I am trying to wrap this up.  Just know that I love you all and I'm happy that you are part of my life! xo

pumkins

For the past couple of years we've been going to this cute little pumpkin patch at the edge of town. It's the cutest pumpkin patch I've ever been to! You grab a little red wagon, walk around until you find your perfect pumpkin, load up the wagon and then check out. It's actually kind of funny, the first time I ever went to an actual pumpkin patch was only 3 years ago. Growing up my family always just grabbed some pumpkins from the grocery store. I didn't care where they came from because the fun part was carving them. Nowadays the fun part is picking out the pumpkin and not carving them ha. It's interesting how things change over time.
