run run run

I love to run! (well now I do, at least). I used to hate running with a passion! It was always a punishment growing up in dance and cheerJunior year of high school I had to run a lap around the track for every minute I was late to practice. If you know me, you know I have the hardest time being on time to well, everything! It was a nightmare.

When Zack and I started dating he would run all the time, so I figured what the heck, I'll give it another chance & what do ya know... I loved running with Zack! Maybe it was because I had the hugest crush on him, or it was the endorphins, or both.

So when I was in 5th grade (I think) I ran a 5k or something with my best friend Nikole. I thought I was going to die. The BYU mascot even ran next to me cheering me on, because I was that pathetic. I blame my asthma. Anyways I was embarrassed.. I got 9th place out of 12 girls haha.

That was the last "race" I had done until this 5k at an elementary school with my friend Olivia a couple of years ago. During the run this fat kid slows down in front of me, puts his hands on his knees & bends over trying to catch his breath while he says, "I had no idea what I was getting myself into." I laughed with him and said, "me either!" Those little kiddos kicked my bum! We had a lot of fun though.

Not long after that Jessica, my little sister talked Zack and I into doing the moonlit half marathon with her. It was SO cool. We had glow sticks and ran through a little rain in the darkness. It was real cool. Did I mention I had the stomach flu too? That was not cool.

A few months later Jessica talked me into doing this ultra marathon with her in Goblin Valley. She failed to mention that "ultra" marathon meant more than 26.2 miles... so at about mile 21 when my knees decided to stop working I think to myself, "it's okay, only a little over 5 miles left.." until this cute grandma who was in killer shape tells me, "You're doing great! Only 11 more miles." I would have slapped my sister if she was near by, luckily she was hours ahead of me. Anyways it was an incredible experience and I finished all 31.5 miles :)

Now I'm trying to run everyday, building endurance and mileage so that I will actually be ready for my next marathon. I want to run one this fall, but I haven't signed up for any yet so I better get on that!

Here are a few pictures I've taken on some of my runs
xo.
